Shooting for Short People (or something like that…)

I’m still trying to come up with a catchy name for my pro-tips for people who are short, have short arms, legs like myself.

“The SHORT-er Athenative?” I’m trying to make that into a catchy version of “The Shorter Alternative” but that may have been overkill… Anyhoo, I’ll try to think up of something but in the meantime, here’s a short video I did for my sponsor for their segment called “Armscor Nation on the Range”

There are a a few ways to reload a magazine quickly. I found the method below effective for me because I just don’t like to switch my grip period.

I would definitely recommend this method for people with small hands and/or short fingers!

There’s a lot of other great tips from my teammates, JJ Racaza and Eric Grauffel (you might need a translator…teehee) here.

I hate changing my grip on the gun to do reloads as well. I used to do reloads by pressing the mag release button with my weak hand, but now I have a super ginormous mag release button… I call it my wing. πŸ™‚ It extends back about half an inch so I can reach it without moving the gun in my hand.

      Hi Karla!!!

Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog πŸ™‚ I need to check out your mag release button out next time I see you! I have tried some extended mag releases on my gun but somehow my weak hand presses on it and mags fall out all the time! I know Lisa Munson uses a left-handed mag button– tried that too but somehow every time I moved my trigger finger to the button, it hits the trigger… I don’t think my weak hand index finger is long enough! I gave up the fight and just stuck with the weak-hand/thumb method as we don’t really do a ton of reloads in Open.

Linda has the same problem with extended mag releases, she just has to look at my gun and the mag falls out!!! πŸ™‚
Shooting in Australia means 10 round magazines, so I had to find a way to make my reloads quicker now that we have to do a million or so every stage… πŸ™‚

Lol @ Linda just looking at the gun…

I almost forgot that you guys are limited to 10 rounds in Australia. Reloads are definitely key! I’ve dabbled with Production the last few months (10 rounds here in the U.S. compared to 15 in IPSC) and my goodness, that ranks on top of there along with how many alphas you can score! And what messes me up is that I can actually reach the button of my CZ with my strong hand!

I am so short. At least when there is a low port and the tall guys with knee braces start to look at me funny. They know I have the advantage. Now, if you can come up with a way for a short person to keep up with a taller person in covering distance. Please, teach me.
